Joe Bilotta
What’s your current position?
I’m the Lead Business Analyst at Tobyhanna Army Depot. I've been here for 18 years and in this role for 3 years now. I focus on retrieving and analyzing large amounts of data using various business intelligence tools. I create dashboards and reports, work with stakeholders to define data needs, and look for ways to improve how we visualize and present data. I also manage projects from start to finish to ensure that our data solutions help in decision-making and keep operations running smoothly.
What would you say most motivates you to do the work you do?
I feel my work is crucial for supporting the warfighter and helping Tobyhanna Army Depot maintain its reputation as one of the best depots in the Army. This, in turn, helps our local economy thrive. I enjoy collaborating with people at all levels, from the shop floor to upper management, to show them how technology and data solutions can streamline important business processes.
Where did you grow up and did you go to a college/trade school after high school?
I grew up in South Canaan, Pennsylvania, and went to Johnson College after high school. It was a great experience that prepared me well for the workforce, especially through their internship program with Tobyhanna Army Depot. I started working there during my senior year and became a full-time employee after graduating.
Did you have any key mentors or people who deeply influenced who you are?
I’ve been fortunate to have several mentors throughout my career. Each of them has taught me different things, like how to set achievable goals and the importance of breaking down tasks to reach those goals. They’ve also shown me how to troubleshoot equipment, which is a skill that translates well to working with different applications and data flows. Their guidance has really shaped my approach to challenges and problem-solving in my work.
How did you learn about Leadership Lackawanna?
I found out about Leadership Lackawanna when my wife was part of the Core program in 2019. I saw how she built her personal and professional network while giving back to our community. I joined the core program the following year, and after graduating, I became an advisor and have been one ever since.
